Final 3 Step Video

Spread

Reflected Zone

This zone is all about reflecti0n, with the final scene, the levels change and rotate. The person I created moves with the rotating ground as the curls move around too. Levels change and so does the light intensity.
There is also a sense of manipulation when it comes to the reflective surface. In one perspective the surface is difficult to distinguish between the ground and the environment.
In this image it show you how the environment changes. It seems sharper and more extensive. In a sense it looks a but hazardous, but you can actually scale the structured curls.
The video displays how interactive the Zone and the environment is.

Reflection

The thing I like about the creation of the new Zone is that it is created from everything already in the Zone. The floor falls out of the first Zone is the curls form around it.

The floor changes and moves and is quite inter-active. If the floor falls out of thr first Zone this means that it is time controlled and can only be used for awhile, this way if you are in that zone you just move to the second one with th floor. This Zone is all about direct contact and environmentally reflection.

I like this image as it gives you the impression that you can't distinguish

between the floor and the surrounding, unless you look from different angles.
The development stage is still at work and an intense video will be created to show how inter-active it is.
The floor is the only thing that reflects, and the human form moves through it.

Individual

The first zone is about the surprise of an individual reflection. This is a animated version of me reflected on the walls of the zone. I tried to make the character look like me, but it didn't quite work, also I attempted hair but that didn't work so I made the character a male.
The open mouth is to intise surprise as you turn around to experience the full potentail of the zone, which is quite active.
This character will walk through the final zone, to show how we as individuals see ourselfs in all different ways. Even in reflections.
This first zone I just used the face on the walls, 2nd zone I will use mirrors to display multiple images and Zone 3 will be the actual character.

Reflection

When it comes to reflection, these are things that I will attempt to bring into the final assignment. These are images I created that I will attempt to have in my next two zones.
The 2nd zone will be about reflection of the person either on mirrors or water. And the final zone 3 will be the actually person, walking through the space.
Three different types of reflection all revolving around the individual.

This is just an image I created to show mirror reflection. Where you will see many reflected individuals from one person,

Entrance

Entering the Zone

Entering and Exiting

This is an image of my entrance to the zone, this is an active entrance but work by a controlled system.

This is time controlled and can only be used for a short period of time.

This work is all about how we as individuals like to spread out and go our separate ways, but then we always come together in the end to experience something different. That is what the red zone is all about. We come together for warmth.

The entrance has slots where you can see through, to give you a feel of what is inside, and when you are in, you get a feel for what is outside. Sort of semi-closed and semi-open. In relation to scale of the blue cool surroundings this zone is quite small.

When you are in the space and experiencing this its very different, the curls feel very real and large. Especially when it comes to the size difference.

The entrance is also the exit point and this could change when I extend my zones on the final assignment. This zone is a surprise and is all about reflection. Thats what the image of the face is about.
This image gives you a better idea on scale to ratio of the zone to the outside matter.

Reflection

This is an image of the other side of the zone, that shows multiple faces. Now because of the reflection quality of the red zone, you would probably think that you are seeing a reflection of yourself in may different ways.

The impossible water ceiling also makes you a bit uneasy, but you wouldn't experience that because it is impossible.

This image is alot brighter than the other one because I tried to have the light reflect through the holes instead, this increases the brightness in the space.

This image of the red zone give you an idea as to scale wise. People in relation to the space, how they can use it and how the space is more fulfilling with the presence of human form.

Zone Qualities

This is an inside view of the entrance that rolls up in order to enter, this has a time period linked to how often the door will open.

This is an image of the entrance from the outer area, its a little glooming in this area but in approaching the entrance its alot brighter. Its a bit glooming in order to make you look for the entrance. The white light is where you enter.

This image shows how nicely the reflection of shadows works within the space. I tried to have the light shine through the holes to have multiple shadows, but found this to be quite a challange also, it make the outer area very dark.

Zones

This is the inside of the first zone thats based on surprise. When you enter this zone through the elevating curl doors you will discover this other world inside. Above is a controlled water ceiling. The ground moves and on the other side of the Zone as you turn around is the surprise.
The red walls have a semi reflective quality.

In this image you can see the through the red zone, which makes you think how you can't see this world in the zone. This is all part of the illlusion of my first assignment.
This is a better view of the world and the zone, how everything works and combines.

Spread

Spreading

As you move through this work you get closer to the entrance of the red zone. All the curls are transparent except for the red zone. I added this effect to make it feel a little more allusive and more future like.

I made the Zone a red colour to make it stand out. So you know where you are moving too.

The many colours add to a more active field than just one boring colour. The transparence also adds a nice feel of nothing is hidden everything can be seen from all angles. Except when you are in the zone.

This image is as you approach the entrance. The entrance is also Transparent but all the same colour so it would stand out. There are alot of holes that look like an entrance but you are not quite sure if you can use them.

This is no longer a structural entrance but more a discovery one.

As you approach the zone your surrounding changes.

Spread

This is a more updated version of my entrance. A series of curls to form a transparent entrance.
These forms make-up forms and as you move out you see the bigger picture.
I created a separated curl to give it a stair type quality. To make you think this is an interactive piece.

Transparency

Close to the entrance I have added a transparency level. 4 Curl forms that I've made transparent. This might confuse a person as to entrance possiblities to this, or to just use the slit entrance.

This is an image from above to show you the full capacity of the transparent level. It also shows you the 3d form of the entrance and how much more interesting it is.

I add a few side images for a full evaluation of the space and how to use it.

A full front view outlining the entrance and the transparent form.

Entrance 1

This is a more developed design of the entrance.

I feel that this entrance and connections are far more 3 dimentional than the last experiement. I will attempt to play with discolour and transparency.

This is the back view of the entrance, when you see the back formation the shape and curl is different to the front. You can also see in between spaces, that might lead to somewhere different, but they aren't big enough in order to fit through.

Entrance Formation

I reinvented the entrance but now it doesn't look so flat anymore. When you move angles, you see something different everytime.

It also give the impression of levels, as if there is more that one way to use this space.

Hidden Paths

In light of my last experimentation, I found that it was 2 flat. So I changed the shape to a more simplair form. The curl or curve. When you walk into it you think it might go somewhere but it doesn't thats the trick about this work where is the surprise?
With this shape no matter which way you turn it, it is such an interesting form.

Overview

This image talks about the beginning process of the connection of the pathway to the zones. I've started the beginning enclosement of the pathway as you can see at the top of the image. As you can see the light is mostly resonating within the passageway. But this will continue all the way around the path.

Connection

This passageway is still very simple but will be changed, there are higher areas and wider, or openings and extended areas.
I have added light inside the tunnel area to enhance things a bit, some areas will be ligher and some areas will be darker.

This just shows an extended pathway and how there are extruded areas and wider areas, but the pathway area is enclosed more than the zones.
Zone 1 will be mostly open, and Zone 2 will be enclosed and have openings.

Passage - Connection

This is a drawing outline of the wall of the inner passage the connection between the entrance and the Zones.
This just shows how the structure works and how it is possible to climb the structure.

This image is the beginning process of the passageway to the zones and exit.
As you can see the grounding is a bluish colour, which gives you a cooler feeling.

Entrance 1

This image talks about the Entrance - Slit Entrance. See its lower to the ground in order for you to enter. But if it was upside down it wouldn't be so easy to get in then.
When light is added it will give it a much more warmer feeling, especially when it is reflected through the small holes in the wall. This entrance is not time controlled.

Design Space Ideas

This is the beginning process of Active Experimentation, you can see from the side the extrusions in order for you to climb the structure.
This is just the beginning process of entering. The first entrance was the Slit Entrance where you have to turn sideways in order to get in.
This structure is made up of these small spicky space rocks.
The outer area is quite a bright yellow in order to get attention.
When you move inside its a more bluish colour to cool the feel.

This is one of the space rocks that makes up the wall entrance area.

Final Concept

This is an image of my final concept, just a quick drawing of final stages and concept ideas. The concept is about reflection of an individual.
This image shows the entrance and the zone.

Storyboard

These images talk about my concept idea and layout for my Impossible World idea.
I've moved away from my idea that was quite structural.
This image talks about the entrance to my space of Zones. The space is made up of these strange shaped space like rocks. With extrusion that you can grab and climb on. There are 3 different challange types entrances here. The first one is a Slit Entrance so you have to turn sideways to enter.
The second one is a Mobile Entrance that moves open and closed so you have a small window of time to get throught before it closes again.
The third entrance is an Active Entrance, where you have to climb to the bigger whole in order to get in.
The connection from the entrance to the Zones are controlled by a passage, this leaves intrigue to what is to come. But there might be distractions. The passage contains closing and openings.
Zone1 is only discovered once you get through the passage. This Zone is about Surprise, and when Zone 2 moves away you discover the surprise. But Zone 2 is part of Zone 1 for awhile. There is a connection in the beginning. After a few hours Zone 2 will move up and rotate.
Leaving more space of Zone 1.

Zone 2 - Is discovered after Zone 1. After awhile Zone 2 returns to Zone 1 and a small opening opens up for you to enter and then it closes once you are on Zone 2, then Zone 2 will lift off again and move up for awhile.
The the 3d space will rotate upside down and Zone 2 will return to Zone 1. Then you can exit Zone 2 back to the space again.

Now that the space is upside down there is only one entrance that can be used as a exit. Which is Entrance 3, Active Entrance. The other 2 entrances arfe to high to get to. But now the bigger whole will be at the bottom for you to use.

Concept - Plan

This image talks about the layout of my concept to Zone 1 and Zone 2 - which are based on my Zone 3 idea about Furturism.
I haven't quite mastered the idea on Connection and how the entrance and exit will appear but this will probably come with Active Experimentation.
What I'm concentrating on at the moment is how the Concept for my last 2 assignments will work in these Zones.
I have an idea on how to display a "Surprise" within Zone 1, but not quite sure how to display "Unexpected Juxtaposition" in Zone 2. I will attempt this concept of "Distant in Space and Time" with my design process.

Diagram - Story

m
This storyboard shows you how this concept will work and how the layout will work.
My Zone 3 - Idea is about Future, I will attempt to use this idea through out my zones, but the main concepts will remain in zone 1 and 2.
Therefore the entrance and exit will be quite futuristic.
The connection process between that and the zone will be quite void, controlled by the lack of gravity.
In this diagram you are able to use the entrance as an exit as well, but the exit is only for exiting, you cannot enter there. The connection between Zone 1 and Zone 2 is time controlled you can only enter Zone 2 once it rotates back again. Zone 2 will be rotating the whole time, every 2 hours will it be back at Zone 1 and then you can enter. This gives you a full opportunity to experience Zone 1 without being disturbed from Zone 2.

Zones

This image talks about the 2 zones that will inhabit my space.
The first Zone is based on aspects from Assignment 1 (Surprise).
The second zone is based on Aspects from Assignment 2 (Unexpected Juxtapositions.)
Zone 1 - Is about Surprise - my idea for that assignment was about a work that had text that displayed something on one side and then something different on the other side. So I will attempt to create this in my zone 1 world idea.
Zone 2 - Is about Unexpected Juxtapositions - my idea for this assignment was about "Time Flies" distant in time and space. I will attepmt to use this in my idea as well.

Movement

This image shows how you move through the space and how you interact with it.

There are many entrances but not that many exits. I will do a full plan drawing of what its going to look like. I really wnat to acheive my concept, it doesn't have anything to do with outer space, just a more futuristic technology. And the idea of a gravity pull and floating spaces and impossible in the natural world.

I really like this idea because you can interact with the space and with the other people that might be using this space.
