These are 3d design ideas on how this branching idea will work. It wouldn't be as big as a corridor, but big enough for a normal sized person.
See here how at the entrance it eventually splits in different directions. (i.e Branching out)
This just gives you a quick idea into how this would take place. Lighting is also very essentail for this to work.
Not very sure on the colour at the moment as this will change due to the required aspects that will take place inside the tubular space.

too tube-like, extruded or symmetrical forms are too simple for designers, try asymmetrical and free form please. would be interesting to see more of interactivity, how about play with scale, materials and colours.
